What is 1 Sky?

1 Sky and Step It UpIn April our request of Congress was simple: that they put America on a course to cut carbon emissions at least 80% by the year 2050 -- the bright line endorsed by NASA scientist James Hansen for what needs to happen to stave off the most catastrophic effects of global warming.

Thanks to the great work of climate organizers everywhere, that goal is now recognized as a line in the sand for what constitutes real leadership on global warming.

However, there are still few candidates for federal office demonstrating this level of leadership, so it's up to us to keep the pressure on.  Also, its increasingly clear that there are other tremendously important goals that must be met to achieve 80% carbon emissions cuts by 2050.  This is why we have joined up with the launch of the new "1 Sky" initiative that includes the comprehensive science-based priorities necessary to overcome the crisis we face and realize the immense opportunities of our time.  Click here to read more about "1 Sky."
