Step It Up Kennebunkport : Peace is a Cool Planet
Kennebunkport, ME
November 3, 2007 03:00PM to 05:00PM
The following politician(s) attended this event:
| Rep. Thomas Allen |
Event Description:
Due to the stormy weather, we will be meeting indoors at the Community House of the South Congregational Church on Temple Street (also right in downtown Kennebunkport)
Nevertheless - Join us in historic Kennebunkport - We are delighted to report that Congressman Tom Allen is planning to attend.
Kennebunkport is the summer home to two U.S. presidents & also a low-lying coastal area. Mapping studies of climate change show parts of the town could be under water as a result of sea level rise.
Consider bringing illustrations of sea level rise- posters of fish or sea creatures. Also it would be great to bring signs or banners illustrating the 3 main requests we are making of our federal government: 80% reduction of CO2 by 2050, green jobs, & no new coal plants.
We expect Congressman Allen to speak at around 3:30 (possibly a little earlier due to the rain). We'll also be joined by Willy Rich of the BackRiver Alliance, the group leading the opposition to a new coal plant in Wiscasset. EarthJams, earth-friendly music for all ages, will play at 4:15.
If you RSVP with your email address, we'll send an email with weather-related & other updates.
Thanks
